National Girls Leadership & Mentoring Camp Converged in Virginia for Annual Conference

G.L.A.M. Camp hosted a 3-day teen and tween conference and retreat in Blackstone, VA

Sacramento, CA —More than 200 girls and their mothers experienced the woods of Blackstone, VA as a part of the annual Girls Leadership & Mentoring (G.L.A.M) Camp, November 30-December 2, hosted by Gospel recording artist Melinda Watts.  Themed “Because You’re Worth It” participants experienced pampering sessions, a live concert by Melinda and friends, and empowering, age-specific, workshops.  As a division of Watts’ Dream Girlz Gathering this is the conference’s first time in Virginia.

From along the East Coast—New York, New Jersey, Virginia, to name a few–buses pulled into the wooded town, an hour outside of Richmond, VA, for a life changing weekend with the focus of being a place “Where God’s Girls Learn to Lead”.  Girls shared time together as they worked on prayer clouds, pampering sessions, and heard a keynote address by Prophetess Kelly Crews.  Attendees shared impactful moments in smaller, breakout groups appropriately named after precious stones, Gems and Jewels.  The weekend also brought an awe inspiring concert with Melinda, and BET Sunday Best Season 2 winner, Y’Anna Crawley, and was hosted by nationally syndicated radio personality Neechy.

“We are happy to see that our numbers have doubled from last year and that so many have even called after the event to participate,” shares Watts.  “We will be back to the East as well as the Mid-west because we see the impact we have had on the nearly 5,000 young girls we have worked with.”

While this was the last event of the year, Melinda is finalizing details for The Dream Girlz Gathering tour that will start in California and then travel back through the East, South, and Mid-West.  As an official partner of the United Nations “Girl Up” program Watts will also be taking DGG back to the international market.  In addition to her work with the organization Melinda is currently working on her sophomore album and writing a book to be released in the new year.

Just in time for the holidays, Melinda’s rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” is available on iTunes and CD Baby and all proceeds will go directly to The Dream Girlz Gathering & G.L.A.M Camp.
