Trey Songz Debuts at #3 on Billboards Hot 200 with Album – “Ready”
Trey Songz Exceeds 135k in First Week Sales Placing Him at #3 on the Billboard Hot 200 With His Third Studio Album “Ready.”
(September 9, 2009)-Grammy nominated recording artist Trey Songz adds commercial success to his repertoire with his first time debut in the Billboard Top 5.
Throughout the promotional campaign for “Ready” Trey Songz defined success and what it meant to be successful in his terms to several media sources.He also expressed that this album, his third release on Songbook/Atlantic Records would be his best album to date. His debut,“I Gotta Make It” was charted at #20 selling 40k albums during the first week, the follow-up ‘Trey Day” came in at #11 with around 71k in first week sales. Although both previous albums were great bodies of work, neither resulted in commercial success. This time around, Trey Songz can safely say that “Ready” puts him in a great position to gain that success after selling over 135k in the first week and making a debut at #3. Trey Songz trails behind Whitney Houston & Miley Cyrus which in itself is an honor considering they both have a broader fan base. In lieu of his success, Trey Songz will be celebrating on September 13, 2009 at The Velvet Room in Atlanta.
