About Urban R&B Vocalist Weava…
About Weava
Weava is an 18-year old vocalist/songwriter, with a strong urban and
contemporary vibe. He has a gifted voice that embodies soulfulness,
passion, and inspiration. A 2008 International Songwriter’s Contest
winner (“Say So” from debut album, Inside Out) -Teen Category, it is evident that
this young man has the musical talent and the entertainment ingenuity
to captivate audiences of all races, ages, and genres. This Hoover, AL
native is a talented singer, songwriter, and musician. He is also an
accomplished pianist, and at a very young age began writing and singing
his own songs. In 2005, he assisted in the musical production for the
stage play “Mama I’m Your Child” performed in Atlanta, Georgia. During
this project, WEAVA had the opportunity to work with Playwright Towonda
Kilpatrick (producer of upcoming Atlanta tv series Yellow Cry, visit
YellowCry.com) and Grammy-award winning songwriter and producer Timothy
Thomas. In the past three years he has also had the privilege of
performing in the Bobby Jones gospel talent search competition and was
a guest musician for The Birmingham Pledge, a race relations foundation
founded on the premise of eliminating racism one person at a time. June
2008, he released his debut cd Inside Out and performed before a
sell-out crowd in Pelham, Alabama. WEAVA was a guest artist on
Detroit’s WGPR 107.5 FM the following July in an effort to promote his
new cd. His newest project “Explanation” is scheduled for release March
2009. He is also a featured writer and artist on a new gospel cd
currently scheduled for release in June 2009. Born Jonathan Weaver,
this former high school running back, has been influenced by both
traditional gospel music and old school R&B superstars and these
influences can be heard in both his lyrics and vocals. Although WEAVA
is young in terms of age, he is clearly a mature musician and
songwriter. His songs speak of experiences and emotions that only years
of wisdom should have the ability to convey; yet somehow this teenager
can express every thought appropriately. The young man also provides
part of the proceeds from his performances to support a local charity
organization which supports abused and neglected youth. His live
performances are unforgettable and much more than hyped entourages and
soundtracks. WEAVA incorporates a live band which makes for an
interactive and crowd-pleasing performance. He is often compared to his
older counterparts, Usher, Jamie Foxx, and Mario. Like these successful
performers, he is a self-motivated entertainer whose style can appeal
to almost every R&B, Hip Hop, and Adult Contemporary fan. He knows
how to immerse his lyrics in hard-hitting street tracks and blazing
drum beats that everyone can relate to. Young Weava has dreams of
owning his own major label. He enrolls in Full Sail University this
fall to help advance his business knowledge of the industry. Keep an
ear open for this young man as he continues to build upon his skills.
