“Somebody to Love” is the first single for her untitled debut album,which is due for release in Winter/Spring 2010. Citing artists such as Gwen Stefani and MIA as musical influences, Meester describes her new music as having an “electro pop edge”. The album will boost collaborations with heavy-weight producers JR Rotem and Kara DioGuardi (who also worked with Meester and Cobra Starship on “Good Girls GoBad”).
Over the past several years, Leighton has built up a solid resume of singing/acting performances, including a singing role in the 2007 movie Drive Thru and a one-of-a-kind duet with the legendary Tony Bennett on the hit HBO series ‘Entourage’. Most recently, ‘leaked’ versions of the Kim Carnes classic “Bette Davis Eyes”, the Awesome New Republic song”Birthday” featuring Meester on lead vocals, and the original song”Body Control” have been embraced by online fans and music bloggers.
