New York, NY October 2010—In Hip Hop music, there are multitudes of MC’s and groups that come and go, while we look for that flash of brilliance to break the monotony of current trends. This fall, AUDIO PUSH is set to bring us that beam of light we’ve been hungry for with the release of new single, “UP N DOWN” released through Geffen Records and now available on iTunes. Audio Push’s power full, sexy vocal is presently served up as a sensuous main course, garnished with soulful lyrics and a musical track to die for! The single, produced by Boston’s KADIS & SEAN (for ROZ ENTERTAINMENT) is spreading like wild fire, receiving growing airplay spins via urban radio stations and massive hits through urban internet sites.
AUDIO PUSH emcees, Oktane and Price Tag might be young guns in the rap game, but they are approaching their careers with the swagger of elder statesmen. The rappers from the Inland Empire section of Southern California are forerunners of the fast rising “jerk” movement, boasting the sub-genre’s first tribute record, “Teach Me How to Jerk.” Their skilled energetic dancing style bares similarities to ‘80s Ska, mixed with rapid backwards skipping, squatting, popping movements and skinny jeans. But the former krump battle dancers also write their own lyrics and possess impressive, confident conversational flows. Some say AUDIO PUSH is reminiscent of popular platinum recording artists, OUTCAST and earlier hip hop HO– — USE PARTY Film Stars, KID N PLAY.
Their prominence on the jerk scene sparked interest from several major labels. But it was the enthusiasm expressed by the execs at Interscope Records that won them over. While “Teach Me How To Jerk” serves as their introduction, Audio Push is multi-dimensional. “We have been a part of the jerk movement, but it’s not the only style of music we make,” Oktane said. “We don’t label ourselves a jerk group,” Price Tag added. “We are people who make great music in general.”
Although the sound of “UP N DOWN” steps right up to the state of contemporary music today, AUDIO PUSH’s soon-to-be signature style boasts a musical edge that shows their brilliance and diversity in their writing, especially on their upcoming debut CD, BIRTH OF AUDIO
“We wanted to do a classic album,” Price Tag said. “We want every song on our album to be good enough to be a single.”
