Look Out For Upcoming New Face to American Music: Marcella Araica
Through this musical phenomenon’s immeasurable talent and endless creative spirit, the lovely Marcella has transcended the culture and gender boundaries firmly entrenched in the music industry. While she can currently be found in the studio producing the debut solo album for superstar pop phenomenon Joe Jonas, this is far from where her humble journey began. Marcella road to success is a source of inspiration for any person who refuses to accept the status quo and continues to fight to transform their dream into a reality.
Marcella laid the foundation for her astounding success as an intern at the legendary Hit Factory, a position she gained only after relentlessly making phone calls and ignoring the perpetual denials. She endured traffic-filled four-hour commutes, endless grueling work days, and often sleeping on the Hit Factory’s floor just to take advantage of any opportunity available to differentiate herself from her peers and refine her craft. Araica’s persistence & natural talent caught the eye of the Grammy award-winning Missy Elliot, who gave the young and eager Marcella an opportunity to mix her innovative 2002 album. Eight short, prolific years later, Araica’s distinctive and unique musical signature is found on over 100 chart topping hits, spanning the wide array of musical genres. Highly coveted producers Timbaland and Danja champion and claim her as their prodigy, marking Marcella as the mixing engineer of choice.
Her skillful mixing and recording credits include “Gimme More” by Britney Spears, Timbaland’s “The Way I Are,” “Promiscuous” by Nelly Furtado, Madonna’s “4 Minutes, Usher’s “Love In This Club,” DJ Khaled’s “We Taking Over” and “When I’m Gone” by Simple Plan. In 2010, Marcella was the recipient of the prestigious ASCAP Songwriting Award for her work on Keri Hilson’s “Knock You Down” and “Sober” by Pink. Not content to rest on her laurels, Marcella recently launched the independent label, N.A.R.S. (New Age Rock Stars) with producing partner Danja. N.A.R.S. begins 2011 with four signed artists, singer/songwriters Kevin Cossum and Luke James and rappers Wyld Money and Cali Stylz.
In light of her own arduous climb up the professional ladder, Marcella created The Red Bottoms Foundation in 2010, an organization dedicated to empowering young women of all cultural backgrounds in the music industry through inspiration, education, and providing access to positioned mentors. The first such organization started by a female music insider, Marcella is committed to supporting women striving for advancement in the music industry by providing access to well-positioned mentors and like-minded professionals through the establishment of coveted internships, scholarships, and programs. The Red Bottoms Foundation is named in homage to the spirit of designer Christian Louboutin’s signature red-bottomed shoes, which Marcella feels personify strength, elegance and confidence, the very characteristics a woman must embody to ascend in the industry.
Marcella’s story is a unique one. Not only is she revered in the industry for her technical proficiency and flawless ear, she is also respected as a self-taught, self-made woman. Like trailblazers before her, Marcella Araica will be remembered as a pioneer and revolutionary. In the murky pop music landscape dominated by flash, instant gratification, and negative female images, Marcella Araica is a refreshing anomaly, shaping and guiding her own career path, and the future of American music, with grace, talent, and pride.
