One participating school to win a visit from Justin Bieber

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Pencils of Promise (PoP), an organization dedicated to increasing access to quality education in the developing world, announces today its Schools4All campaign featuring Justin Bieber and a chance to win a school visit through a $25 contribution. On the heels of his “What Did Justin Say” viral video directing people to sign up at WhatDidJustinSay.com to hear his newest announcement, the singer reveals a new PSA challenging his fans to provide children around the world with quality education by fundraising to build new schools. The grand prize winning middle or high school will receive a visit from Bieber and Pencils of Promise founder Adam Braun. Other Schools4All prize partners include Barnes & Noble/NOOK®, Songza and Poppin.

“I wanted to give every one of my fans a chance to help others and bring me to their school for just $25,” says Justin Bieber. “The Schools4All campaign is a way for us young people to make a change, and I’ll get to thank an entire school in person.”

“Pencils of Promise was founded with just $25,” explains Adam Braun. “Today we can educate a new child with every $25 donation, and this campaign will enable thousands of students to help other children around the world.”

Just $25 educates a child in a Pencils of Promise school. Starting today through January 31, 2013, every $25 raised will count as a lottery ticket entry for a visit from Bieber and Braun.  Any student can create or join their school’s fundraising team at Schools4All.org. After signing up, they can fundraise with their school to earn lottery tickets. At the end of the campaign, Pencils of Promise will pull one winning lottery ticket to win the grand prize. The top 3 fundraising schools will win free flights for selected students to meet Bieber at the Grand Prize winning school visit.

New to the program this year, Schools4All partners with Alloy Digital, a leading next generation media company for the 12-34 demographic and top-10 video network, to broadcast exclusive interviews with Bieber and behind-the-scenes footage from his PSA shoot on its top ranking entertainment channels, ClevverTV and Teen.com. Additionally, Teen.com will invite students to submit photos and blog entries about their participation and will highlight select entries during the course of the campaign at Teen.com/pencilsofpromise.

As part of the exclusive “Believe in Reading”™ partnership with Justin Bieber (www.nook.com/justinbieber) Barnes & Noble/NOOK will match all donations by student fundraisers up to $50,000 starting on December 13. Additionally, Barnes & Noble/NOOK will donate 1,000 award-winning NOOK Simple Touch™ readers to Pencils of Promise schools, all preloaded with a selection of eBooks. Each week, the schools that raise the most will receive a donation of NOOKs for their library. NOOK and Barnes & Noble recently partnered with Justin Bieber for the exclusive “Believe in Reading” sweepstakes, which coincides with Justin’s “Believe” concert tour. This sweepstakes gives customers a chance to enter at their local Barnes & Noble NOOK counter for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend one of Justin’s concerts and meet Justin at the show.

Beyond their own fundraisers, students can raise money through Pencils of Promise’s other Schools4All partners, Songza and Poppin. Songza, a free music service that streams the perfect playlist for whatever you’re doing (from waking up to sleeping, from working out to getting through the work day), will donate $.10 for each visitor to bit.ly/Songza_PoP throughout the campaign.

Poppin, an innovative online retailer selling colorful essentials for school and work, will donate $1 per every like on their Facebook page (Facebook.com/Poppin) today through January 31, 2013. Each person who likes Poppin’s page can also enter into a contest to win a $1,000 Poppin shopping spree.
